Note that like most of the businesses on Tioman Island, Tioman Dive Resort and B&J Diving Centre shut down during the monsoon season. Tioman Dive Resort

Tioman Dive Resort is a fantastic option for both Tioman resort hunters and budget traveller hunters.

This is thanks to it having great resort-style rooms as well as budget-friendly dorm rooms. It’s perfect for people looking to dive as there is a dive centre on-site, but it’s also a good spot for non-divers too with plenty of restaurants and shops in the area.

The dive centre is called B & J Dive Centre and is a five-star PADI Diving education centre. There is more about this below.

Location

Located in the middle of ABC, near the jetty, it is easy to get to Tioman Dive Resort. It’s a nice bay with a nice beach and quiet village. You will probably spot monkeys and monitor lizards while you are staying here!

While not connected by road to the rest of the island (like most villages on Tioman), you are able to easily walk or ride into Tekek, the main town on the island, thanks to an over-water walkway. You can spot fish from this walkway and it’s a nice thing to do.

However, you don’t need to leave ABC as there are plenty of eating options right here.

Rooms

The rooms at Tioman Dive Resort are modern and are available in double/twin, triple and quad configurations. Each of the rooms include air-conditioning, fan, TV, tea and coffee making facilities, hot water and refrigerator. It is a quiet, peaceful location, perfect for relaxing, even if you aren’t interested in the diving courses.

There are only eleven rooms in a double storey building and all rooms have access to a balcony seating area.

For budget travellers, there are also dorms for up to five people in a room. This makes this resort a very affordable option as well.

Facilities

There is a beach bar on-site but no restaurant. However, there are several different food options nearby along with shops and other resorts all within easy access.

Washing machines are available so you can wash your own clothes.

B & J Diving Centre

Tioman is known for its marine life and great diving, so what’s the best activity to do on Tioman? Dive, of course!

The B&J Diving Centre is part of the Tioman Dive Resort – it’s all owned by the same people. They are known as being one of the leading PADI 5 Star Instructor Development Centres in Asia. Their motto is to provide quality dive experience without cutting any corners – and this is what they do. They have been doing this since 1986.

They are one of the largest dive centres in Malaysia and are a PADI 5 Star Instructor Development Centre. This means they offer all courses from beginner to instructor level.

They have the best diving equipment available (mainly Scubapro) which is serviced regularly. The Bauer compressors used provide the purest air available. They are the only dive centre in Malaysia that’s Bauer Pure Air Certified.

Just in case you still need convincing, B&J Diving Centre also takes environmental protection seriously and are a GoEco operator, GreenFins Member and Project AWARE award winner. They participate in regular clean-up activities and have a strict no-touch policy.

• B&J Refresher Dive – 1 pool/shore dive with important skills review. Perfect for certified divers who haven’t dived in awhile. It’s also necessary to do before you can do the leisure dives if you haven’t logged more than 20 dives AND haven’t dived in over 12 months
• PADI Scuba Diver – Two day program including eLearning. This is for people who want to learn to dive but don’t have time to do the full PADI Open Water Diver program. There is also a second part of this if you have done this course previously and want to upgrade to PADI Open Water Diver
• PADI Open Water Diver – The qualification you need if you want to be a certified diver. It’s a 4 day program. Before starting this, you need to be able to swim for 200 metres without aids or for 300 metres with fins and snorkel as well as be able to float or tread water for 10 minutes
• PADI Advanced Diver – For certified divers that already have PADI Open Water qualification and want to be able to do more

There’s also PADI Rescue Diver, PADI Adventure Diver, PADI Divemaster, specialised courses, like Night Diver, and so much more. You can also pay more to have a private instructor.

Of course, if you are already a certified diver, you don’t need to do a course and can simply pay for the number of dives you want to do. You need to show proof of your diving certification.

These dives can be from a boat or on the beach and include all gear. There is a discount if you have your own gear.
