BEST OPTION: How To Go From Legoland To Desaru

The quickest and best option for travelling from Legoland To Desaru is to take a private taxi.

The cheapest option is to take buses. These are overly complicated and time consuming though.

Here’s a summary of your options:

Option 1: Bus From Legoland To Desaru

Pre-covid, there was a direct bus from Legoland to Desaru. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case and it’s become much more complicated to get between Legoland Malaysia and Desaru Coast by bus. In fact, if you have the budget for a private taxi (coming up!), I don’t recommend you take buses.

Here are some options if you must take the bus….

Choice 1: Via Causeway Link

This option is only possible on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

Causeway Link runs a bus service from JB Sentral and Desaru Coast Riverside on these mornings at 9am. It takes approximately an hour and a half.

This bus must be booked at least a day in advance online as it only runs if there are bookings.

The cost is RM66 which is for the return journey on the same day only. If you want to stay in Desaru, you’ll need another bus ticket to get back to Johor Bahru.

The return journey is at 6pm.

Desaru Coast Riverside is close to the Adventure Waterpark. Free shuttles run from here to the main hotels.

To get to JB Sentral, I recommend you take a taxi from Legoland. It takes multiple buses (and hours) to get a bus and this will be difficult to do in time for the 9am departure for the Desaru Coast bus. It only takes about 30 minutes in a taxi.

Choice 2: Via Kota Tinggi

If the above bus doesn’t work for you, there are other options but it’s a lot more time and effort.

You need to:

  1. Take a taxi or bus to JB Sentral or JB Larkin. A taxi is recommended as no buses are convenient on these routes. You could have a long walk to a bus stop and then multiple buses. Check out Google Maps for options.
  2. Take a bus from JB Sentral or JB Larkin to Kota Tinggi. Bus 227 runs regularly from JB Sentral and takes about an hour and 10 minutes. Bus T10 also runs regularly and takes about the same amount of time.
From JB Larkin, these buses also run (but go via JB Sentral so take longer) or you can take a direct express bus by booking here. The express bus takes about an hour and is more comfortable.
  3. From Kota Tinggi bus station, take a bus to Taman Desaru. There are a few options that take just under an hour such as bus P2 and PE004.
  4. From Taman Desaru, take a taxi or bus to your accommodation. Bus PE001 heads to the beach and resort area.

Option 2: Legoland To Desaru By Car

If you have access to a car (or want to hire one), it’s straightforward to drive between Legoland and Desaru.

There are several major highways through or around Johor Bahru and then you take E22 towards the coast.

I recommend you look at Google Maps right before you leave to get the best route at that time. The traffic conditions when you are driving determine which route is best.

Option 3: Legoland To Desaru By Taxi

The absolute easiest, best and quickest way to travel between Legoland and Desaru is definitely by private taxi.

A private taxi can pick you up right at your hotel and drop you off at your next one.

Or if you are visiting Desaru for Adventure Waterpark, it can drop you off right there. It is so easy.

The best part is that it is quite affordable. Currently, I can book you a taxi with a safe and reliable local operator for only RM370.

This saves a lot of hassle as the buses are not fun between these places. You can be there in no time, all set to have fun!

Option 4: Day Trip To Desaru (Or Legoland)

If you want to visit Desaru on a day trip from Legoland OR if you want to visit Legoland Malaysia on a day trip from Desaru, both things are possible!

If you are visiting Desaru, you can use the Causeway Link bus mentioned above (or click here to book it). This doesn’t work for a day trip to Legoland though.

In either direction, you can easily book private taxis to take you for a return trip. It is double the cost of the one way trip, so prices start at RM680 for up to five people.

This is perfect if you want to visit Adventure Waterpark in Desaru or Legoland Malaysia.

There is one exception. There are more bus options from Desaru back to Johor Bahru so you can book a bus here which will take from Bandar Penawar Bus Terminal to Johor Bahru Larkin bus terminal 3-4 times a day at different times of the day.

This is run by LA Holidays and costs RM20.

Bandar Penawar Bus Terminal is a short taxi ride from the Desaru Beach and nearby resorts. Once you get to JB Larkin, you will still need to take a taxi on to Legoland Malaysia.

The quickest and easiest way is to take a taxi. The taxi from Desaru to Legoland is RM340 for up to five passengers.
