Top 16 Best Things To Do In Genting Highlands 2024
Here are the best things to do Genting Highlands, Malaysia offers. Read through and select the ones that fit your interests and timeframe.
Have Fun At The Genting SkyWorlds Theme Park
Genting SkyWorlds Theme Park has long been anticipated with construction starting all the way back in 2013. It finally opened in February 2022 and can now be added to your top 10 things to do in Genting list!
The park features over 26 rides spread over nine differently themed worlds. Rides range from thrilling roller coasters to awesome 4D experiences. There’s also plenty of cool buildings to walk through and see.
The park themes are based on animations and include Ice Age, Rio, Epic and Robots among others making this a great place for kids. Kids can also meet their favourite characters and take photos with them.
There are a few places to eat as well.
The park is currently in a “soft-opening” phase. I visited in April 2023, and honestly found it disappointing with too much shut at the moment, especially with the high entry price.
However, all the pieces are in place for a great theme park. It’s very well presented with some great rides. The upside at the moment is that I found lines very short and plenty of family friendly rides open.
I visited by myself and was finished in two hours with some of the rides I was most hoping to go on not being open. Or, in the case of Samba Gliders, I wasn’t able to go on it unless I wanted to pay a RM20 locker fee!
I don’t think it will be long before this becomes the best place in Genting Highland to visit though. Once it’s all open, I definitely want to return!

This indoor theme park is home to over 20 rides ranging from family-friendly activities to some of the most thrilling rides in Genting! There’s also virtual reality attractions, a climbing wall, museum and monuments from around the world.
Located at the centre of Resorts World Genting, you won’t be able to miss this theme park and it’s quite a sight. You can walk through and enjoy without buying tickets too if you don’t like going on rides.

Embrace The Cold In Snow World Experience
You would be forgiven for not thinking that one of things to do in Genting Highland Malaysia is to visit the snow, but it is. Snow World Experience is located at Resorts World Genting and is the best place in Genting Highlands (in fact the only place) to see snow!
Snow World Experience features frigid temperatures and is an indoor winter wonderland. This is a great place for kids. There is a large slide called the Toboggan slide, heaps of cool sports for photo opportunities and even an igloo.
You can do all the things you’d want to do in the snow here like build a snowman, make snow angels and have a snowball fight.
Note, this was temporarily closed at the time of publishing.

Be Thrilled At The Zombie Outbreak
Located at Ripley’s Adventureland at SkyAvenue, Zombie Outbreak is another one of the attractions Genting Highland Malaysia offers.
It is basically modeled as an out of control zombie apocalypse. Your job is to try and contain the situation. There are people dressed as zombies and things that jump out at you. It is worth it if you’re looking for unique activities in Genting Highlands. It can be a good activity for families but it’s not really suitable for young kids.

Hop On The Genting Awana SkyWay Cable Car
Possibly the top attraction in Genting Highland is the cable car. It is not only the best way to get from point A to B, but it’s also the best way to see the rainforest from above.
Hop inside a gondola (there are both standard and glass floor options) from Awana Station and travel the 620 metres up to SkyAvenue Station. The journey takes about 10 minutes. You can get a ticket with express boarding if there’s a line and you don’t fancy waiting.
The cable car also stops at Chin Swee Station on the way where you can see the Caves Temple (listed below).
The cable car ends at SkyAvenue Station where you’ll find all the resorts, shopping, dining options, theme parks and attractions at Genting Highlands that make it such a popular destination.

Visit The Chin Swee Caves Temple
The Chin Swee Caves Temple is open from 9am to 6pm daily and can be reached from the Awana SkyWay by hopping off at Chin Swee Station.
This is a Taoist temple in honor of Reverend Chin Swee, who is believed to bring rain and offer protection from evil spirits. One of the Genting things to do is simply walk around this area.
The temple is intricately decorated with plenty of statues including a large statue of the Buddah. Next door, there is a stunning nine storey pagoda which is also one of the things to see in Genting Highlands.
The walk to the temple itself is fascinating as you’ll pass through the “10 chambers of hell” – a depiction of the path to enlightenment.

Tour The Genting Strawberry Leisure Farm
Believe it or not, one of the things to do at Genting Highlands Malaysia year round is strawberry picking. This is because the strawberries grown at the Genting Strawberry Leisure Farm are a special variety that are able to grow year round.
Walking around the farm itself is a fun thing to do. However, one of the best things to do here is strawberry picking. Indeed, this is among the best activities for kids in Genting Highlands. Once picked, you simply pay for the strawberries by their weight.
If you don’t fancy picking your own strawberries, you can purchase a variety of pre-picked strawberries as well as a range of other goods like jams and candies.
There are not just strawberries here. Mushrooms are also grown, as well as herbs, vegetables and flowers. There’s a 6-acre Lavender Garden to visit here too which is included in the entry fee.

If you’re interested in exploring the surrounding area then one of the places to visit in Genting Malaysia is the Lim Goh Tong Memorial Hall. This site was built to honor Genting’s founder, Lim Goh Tong.
The hall is open and includes a wooden statue of Lim Goh Tong and some nice decorations. There’s even a pretty Koi fish pond here. There’s also a shop where you can purchase some food to feed the fish as one of the things to do in Genting Malaysia.

Watch A Musical At The Arena Of Stars
At 45,000 square feet and with capacity for 5000 guests, a visit to the Arena Of Stars is one of the Genting Highlands things to do. This is one of the best places in Genting Highlands to watch a musical or see a show – particularly great if you’re looking for things to do in Genting at night.

Explore The French-Themed Village, Colmar Tropicale
Another unique place among Genting Highland things to do is Colmar Tropicale. Located around 30 minutes from Genting Highlands in Berjaya Hills, Colmar Tropicale is a hotel and village modeled off a 16th century French village.
You can enter the village even if you’re not staying at the hotel by paying a small entry fee. There are a number of shops and restaurants here as well as some pretty buildings and a central square with a fountain.

Take A Day Trip To Kuala Lumpur
If you’re done with Genting Highlands Malaysia things to do and want to explore attractions near Genting Highlands then the best place to go is Kuala Lumpur.
KL Sentral is an easy bus ride from Genting Highlands. Once there, you can visit many of the sites that make Kuala Lumpur such a popular destination such as the Petronas Towers, KLCC Park, markets, museums and Merdeka Square.
We also recommend a visit to Little India for a different cultural experience and Bukit Bintang for the ultimate shopping experience.

1 Day Trip To Genting Highland
Planning a day trip Genting Highlands? It is entirely possible to do a day trip to Genting Highlands from Kuala Lumpur. It only takes about an hour and a half to reach Genting Highlands from Kuala Lumpur.

We recommend a visit to Genting SkyWorlds Theme Park and including some of the things to do in First world Hotel Genting like Skytropolis Indoor Theme Park or Ripleys Believe It Or Not Museum before heading back to Awana Bus Terminal.
If you want to do more than a day trip to Genting Highlands from KL, there are also tours that take you to Batu Caves and Genting Highlands in one day.
What To Do In Genting Highland Map
Best Place To Stay In Genting Highlands
Genting Highlands is not only a great place to visit, but it’s also a great place to stay. There are many flashy hotels here and they’re generally located in the heart of Genting close to all the major attractions, especially if you stay at Resorts World Genting Highlands where most of these attractions are located.
This is a popular destination and finding a cheap hotel can be more difficult at peak times. However, most of the time the options are very affordable.
Below are my top picks for each price point including a budget, mid-range and pricier option.
BEST – Grand Ion Delemen Hotel Review
The Grand Ion Delemen Hotel is our top pick of where to stay in Genting Highlands. This hotel offers an indoor pool, a cafe, a range of restaurants, a fitness center and free WiFi throughout.
Rooms are very well equipped and include double and twin options, as well as one/two/three bedroom suites. This hotel has some of the best room options for families. All rooms have a large flat screen TV and tea and coffee making facilities.
The hotel is located 10 minutes away from Genting Highlands major attractions, and there is a shuttle bus that operates each hour for a small fee. This is a great place to stay in relaxing surroundings.

MID-RANGE – Resorts World Genting – First World Hotel Review
Resorts World Genting – First World Hotel is connected to the SkyAvenue Mall. The best part of staying here is that all the major attractions are nearby.

Genting Highlands With Kids
Genting Highlands is an awesome place to visit with kids. In fact, many of the activities Genting Highland offers are made even more fun by visiting with kids. This is especially true when it comes to theme parks and experiences like the Snow World Experience.
Even riding the Awana SkyWay can be a great experience for families.
We also think the Strawberry Leisure Farm is the best place to visit in Genting Highlands with kids. This is a lovely spot for being in nature and makes for a relaxed family friendly activity.
Final Words
It’s difficult to find destinations that offer as much variety as Genting Highlands in such a small area and a relatively convenient location. Not only is it filled with attractions, but its climate is totally different from Kuala Lumpur whilst only being an hour away.
It is a whole world and I think I’d go a bit batty spending more than a couple of days in Resorts World Genting, where you can barely see daylight, so thankfully, there’s some other attractions around this area to get out and about to as well.
It’s the perfect place for a one day trip or weekend getaway, and it’s made even better by visiting as a group or family. We highly recommend a visit here!
