Option 1: Johor Bahru To Desaru Bus
There are two options to get between Johor Bahru and Desaru, both of which have drawbacks.
Choice 1: Via Causeway Link
Causeway Link runs a bus service from JB Sentral and Desaru Coast Riverside on Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings at 9am. It takes approximately an hour and a half.
This bus is on-demand only and you must book online a day before to be able to take it.
It costs RM66 which includes the return journey on the same day. If you want to stay in Desaru, you’ll need another bus ticket to get back to Johor Bahru afterwards.
The return journey is at 6pm.
Desaru Coast Riverside is close to the Adventure Waterpark so this works if you are looking for Johor Bahru to Desaru water park buses. Free shuttles run from here to the main hotels as well.

Choice 2: Via Kota Tinggi
If the above bus doesn’t work for you, you can take ordinary buses to Desaru – but it’s a lot more time and effort.
You need to:
- Take a bus from JB Sentral or JB Larkin to Kota Tinggi. Bus 227 runs regularly from JB Sentral and takes about an hour and 10 minutes. Bus T10 also runs regularly and takes about the same amount of time.
From JB Larkin, these buses also run (but go via JB Sentral so take longer) or you can take a direct express bus by booking here. The express bus takes about an hour and is more comfortable. - From Kota Tinggi bus station, take a bus to Taman Desaru. There are a few options that take just under an hour such as bus P2 and PE004.
- From Taman Desaru, take a taxi or bus to your accommodation. Bus PE001 heads to the beach and resort area.
If you have the budget, I recommend a taxi to avoid all this effort and time.
