Arriving In Kuah

Walking off the boat in Kuah

On arrival, you simply need to walk off your ferry and then walk through the terminal building. It’s a much bigger terminal than in Kuala Perlis but just keep walking with the crowds straight ahead and you’ll soon be outside.

Kuah is not that convenient to most beach resorts in Langkawi and the main areas where tourists stay.

There are taxis available on arrival at the Jetty or you can save money by booking one on the Grab app. I also had many drivers asking me if I needed a ride on arrival so it will usually not be hard to find someone to drive you.

However, if you travel at a busy time, you may have to wait awhile for a taxi or Grab. A friend of mine travelled over just before new years and had to wait 40 minutes for a Grab. Since it was so busy, she also had to pay surge prices – RM42 to Pantai Cenang whereas I paid RM23. At busy times, it could be worth trying to book a transfer with your hotel ahead of time so you know you have an easy ride waiting for you.

You can also hire a car or motorbike from here which can be a very affordable option.

There are buses from the jetty into central Kuah, but it’s much more recommended to take a Grab taxi on arrival.
