Traders Hotel KL Review
The Traders Hotel-Kuala Lumpur is a contemporary, Shangri-La hotel with 571 rooms and many facilities.
The service is friendly and efficient and check-in was completed quickly. My photo of the reception here can make it seem crowded but actually I didn’t even notice at the time as they were so efficient.
Check-out is a leisurely 12pm which I took advantage of.
Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur Malaysia Location
Traders Hotel KL address: Kuala Lumpur City Centre, 50088 Kuala Lumpur, Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
The Traders Hotel KL location is hard to beat. It is in the middle of Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) by the big park in front of the Petronas Twin Towers.
It has direct access to the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, and it’s easy to get around from here. There is also an underground walkway all the way into Suria KLCC Shopping Centre.
If you want to go from the KL airport to Traders Hotel or KL Sentral to Traders Hotel, a taxi is your best bet. It’s easy to get one from either location.
Below, is a Traders Hotel KL map.
KL Traders Hotel Rooms
There is a great range of room types at the Traders Kuala Lumpur Hotel so try not to get overwhelmed. The good news is that they are all great! So you’ll be fine regardless of what you book.
All rooms are a decent size with big windows to capture the views. They all have flat-screen cable TV, tea and coffee making facilities, nice ensuite bathrooms with separate shower and bath with toiletries and minibar. They also have a desk and seating area.
They are comfortable and well presented, just like you would expect from a Shangri-La hotel. There are king and twin room options.
You can also pay extra for an executive room which is a bit bigger and located on a corner for even better views of the Petronas Twin Towers and KLCC Park.
There are also suites with separate sitting rooms and a family suite option with a room with either bunk beds or two single beds, a play area complete with a PlayStation and bean bags and children’s bath amenities. I look forward to trying that room type next time I come with the kids.
Suites come with access to the Traders Club Lounge or you can also book any of the hotel room options with lounge access.
Lounge access gives you access to a concierge service, a special check-in area on the club floor, breakfast, all-day snacks, beverages and evening cocktails at the lounge. They can also press your suit and clean your shoes.
I recommend that whatever room type you opt for, you pay a little extra to book a room with a Twin Towers view. It’s just so iconic!

Deluxe Twin Towers View Room
I was staying here by myself so I opted for a deluxe room with the Twin Towers view.
My Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur review is very positive.
It was easy to find my room and I was soon standing amazed at the view!
On entry to my room was cupboard and luggage space down one side and a bathroom to the other.
The bathroom was spacious with a toilet, bath tub, separate shower and plenty of toiletries.
There were two cupboards and plenty of space for my luggage. There were also ironing facilities in one of the cupboards, an in-room safe and two bathrobes.
In the main part of the room was a super comfortable king bed with great linen and a big desk area with a super comfortable chair. There was also the flat-screen TV and a small fridge as well as refillable bottles for water and tea and coffee making facilities.
By the windows was a great little sitting area with a double couch, a reclining couch with foot stool and a coffee table. My only (super minor) complaint is that the reclining chair should have been facing the view instead of the room but I soon fixed that!
Then there is the view! So good. I had unobstructed views of the twin towers as well as all over KLCC park. I loved it! At night, it was even better.
There are two levels of curtains, one for privacy and one black-out. I can’t say I used them much though. I didn’t want anything in the way of the view.
Hotel Traders KL Facilities
As you would expect from a 5 star-hotel, there are many facilities at the Hotel Traders Kuala Lumpur.
First of all, you can avoid the short walk in the heat to the nearby Suria KLCC Shopping Mall by taking the complimentary buggy service. As stated earlier, you can also walk underground to the shopping mall if it’s raining. It’s not far.
To walk underground, go down to the car park level and just keep walking, eventually you’ll find the walkway on the right.
In the hotel itself, you’ll definitely want to use the health and leisure facilities.
There is a fully equipped gym with views and runners will love the 1.3 kilometre jogging trail in KLCC park just outside the hotel.
There is a spectacular rooftop pool which has a sauna and steam bath. This is also where the SkyBar is located.
If you’d rather something that has a more relaxing vibe, there is the Traders Hotel KL spa. This is also on the rooftop with great views.
The only downside is that the pool shuts at 7pm, and since it’s inside the Traders Hotel KL Sky Bar (coming up next) which opens at 5pm, I didn’t feel comfortable using this in the evenings and it was a bit strange to me having it inside a bar.
There is free Traders Hotel KL parking as well as business and meeting facilities.
There are also many other facilities, like laundry, shoeshine, and transport, activities and more can be organised for you.
The Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur wifi is great. I never had any problem streaming and using the internet.
SkyBar Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur
One of the reasons I had seen photos of the Traders Hotel by Shangri La KL is because of its rooftop SkyBar at the pool. This is the place to go in KL for some great sunset drinks.
Of course, when I stayed here, I had to do the same….
The Kuala Lumpur Traders Hotel SkyBar certainly has some fabulous views and there’s a happy hour 5-7pm with cheaper beer prices to help you enjoy it. I highly recommend booking ahead (which you can here) because when I visited on a Monday night, the best tables were all reserved. I did manage to snag a higher one by the windows by why take the risk?
I had some bao while I was here as wanted a snack before I hit Jalan Alor Food Street. It was amazing! And a much bigger serving than I imagined. I thought prices were very reasonable for such a cool bar as well. I paid RM69 for two glasses of wine and the bao.
The downside was that service was friendly but not at all proactive. I had to keep going to the bar if I wanted something, despite there being plenty of staff.
I also find the pool being in the middle of this bar very weird. You wouldn’t want to drink too much as the pathways around it are narrow. I couldn’t help but wonder how many people had fallen in over the years 😂
Still, I would go back again in a heartbeat and I’m sure I will next time I am in KL.
Note that only people over the age of 21 can be in here after 7pm.
Traders KL Hotel Dining
In addition to being able to eat at the Traders Hotel SkyBar KL, there are a few other Traders Hotel KL restaurant options.
For starters, you can have a Traders Hotel KL breakfast buffet included with your room rate or purchase this on arrival at the Gobo Chit Chat Restaurant. This is also open until 11pm at night with a range of dining options including Thai, Arab, Malaysian and Western menus as well as a kid menu.
There is also the Gobo Upstairs Lounge and Grill where you can have a drink or a delicious meal. This is the main Traders Hotel restaurant KL I recommend for a great meal.
For something quick and easy, there is the On The Go on the ground floor where you can pick up a snack, burger, pastry or a coffee.
There is also take away available and 24 hour room service.
Final Words
I absolutely loved staying at the Traders Hotel. I can see why Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur reviews are overwhelmingly good.
It’s a classy, comfortable hotel that deserves its 5-star rating in an unbeatable location with unbeatable views. The facilities are great, and I’ll be dreaming about that bao for awhile!
It’s going to be hard for me to stay anywhere else in KL in future.
