Stopping over in Tawau on your Sabah adventure? Looking for a convenient and comfortable hotel to make your stay as good as possible?
Look no further! Check Inn Hotel Tawau is a great midrange option. In this full review, I walk you through everything you need to know.
Tawau doesn’t have 5-star, luxury accommodation, but it does have great value, midrange accommodation which is what you’ll find at the Check Inn. I picked this hotel primarily because of the location, but it is also very comfortable and great value.
I was also able to get a room with a sea view which I always love.
Below, you’ll find my full Check Inn Hotel Tawau review including exactly where it is located, the rooms available, a walk through my room, the facilities and dining options.

Check Inn Hotel Tawau Review
I stayed here by myself.
The Check Inn Hotel in Tawau was quick and convenient to check-in to. The only downside was that the elevator is up some stairs – about half a level, so I had to carry my heavy suitcase up them.
I was soon on my way to my room though.
Location
Address: TB 248, Jalan Bunga, 91000 Tawau
The Check Inn Hotel is centrally located near the waterfront and the seafood eating area. On this stay, I was only stopping overnight so it was perfect for me. I could eat easily and enjoy sunset by the water.
It’s also opposite a huge supermarket so it’s a great place to stock up on supplies.
Rooms
There is a range of room types from budget single rooms without a window to triple rooms. They have a range of price points depending on if you want a sea view or an updated appearance.
The rooms are generally compact, clean and comfortable. All rooms have ensuite bathrooms, air-conditioning, flat screen TV, tea and coffee making facilities, a desk and toiletries. Basically, everything you would expect from a good hotel.
Executive King Room (Sea View)
I’m a sucker for a view so I picked an executive king room for the sea view.
This room definitely had a great view of the city and out to sea.
It’s an older style room, but clean and comfortable.
On entry to the room, there was cupboard space to my left and the bathroom to my right. The bathroom has a toilet, shower and basin with some toiletries.
The cupboard space had room for my suitcase, hanging space and some shelves. There were also tea and coffee making facilities in this part of the room.
This wall had a flatscreen TV and a desk and chairs.
I had a king size bed with bedside tables on either side. The room also has an air-conditioner.
The big windows did let in some street noise. With the air-conditioner on, this was like a dull roar so not too problematic.

Facilities
This is a three star hotel and there is a lack of facilities. Free wifi is included though which was a great quality.
Dining
There is no dining on-site, but you are close to many restaurants and convenience stores. A big supermarket is across the road.
There is a string of seafood and other restaurants a very short walk away on Jalan Chen Fook. Basically, turn right when you exit the hotel and keep going straight ahead and you’ll see it.
Final Words
If you’re looking for a well located, comfortable place to stay in Tawau, Check Inn Hotel is a great choice.
It’s nothing fancy and there aren’t really any facilities, but my room was great, and it’s easy to explore from here.
The sea view rooms are solid.
