Looking for a great place to stay in the Batu Ferringhi area of Penang that’s a great price with plenty of facilities?

Definitely consider the Bayview Beach Resort Penang Malaysia.

This resort is great. We have stayed here multiple times over years as it works well for our family of five. It’s not easy to find good options with three kids, but the Penang Bayview Beach Resort nails it.

I think it would also be great for solo travellers, couples, friends and smaller families travelling together too.

Bayview Beach Resort Review

I wrote this Bayview Beach Resort Penang blog after my most recent stay at the Bayview Beach Hotel Penang with my family of five. My kids were 6, 11 and 12 at the time.

This Bayview Beach Resort Penang review is based on this primarily, but we have only had positive experiences staying here in the past as well including when my kids were much younger.

Check-in was super smooth and we were able to access the room early.

Location Of The Bayview Beach Resort Penang Malaysia

This hotel is in Batu Ferringhi which is the main beach town on Penang where you can find the best beach resorts. The hotel Bayview Beach Resort Penang is in a great spot between the main road of Batu Ferringhi and the beach.

The beach right outside the resort

There are some eating spots across the road as well as the big Hard Rock Hotel next door. The beach is right in front of you and can walk along this or the main road to get to the heart of Batu Ferringhi where the night market is and the delicious Long Beach Cafe hawker centre.

It’s about 1.5 kilometres to these spots.

Rooms

Bayview Beach Resort

There are a range of Bayview Beach Resort Penang room options. There are twins, doubles, Bayview Beach Resort Penang family room options and suites.

There are a few choices within each of these categories too depending on what size room you want, what standard and whether you want a hill or a sea view.

All rooms come with air-conditioning, balconies, sitting areas, minifridge, tea and coffee making facilities and TV. They are clean and comfortable. Suites also come with a living room.

Family Side Seaview Suite

Bayview Beach Resort upon entry to room

We originally booked a hillview family room, but then I realised it was only a little more to upgrade to a family suite so I did it. This gave us a separate sleeping area for kids and adults which seemed worth the extra money.

I’m glad I did as our seaview Bayview Beach Resort family suite was great!

The room is called side or partial seaview because one room within our suite has a seaview and the other didn’t. In fact, the main bedroom didn’t have a window at all which was fine.

On entry to the room was a door on the right that leads to the walk in wardrobe area. The bathroom and main bedrooms were off this. Straight ahead was the living area/second bedroom.

This room had a decent couch with coffee table, TV and TV cabinet with the minifridge and some bottled water. There was also tea and coffee making facilities here. There were also two single beds here and the extra bed we requested for the third child.

A balcony tops off the room with great views. It has a small table and two chairs.

From this room, there was also a door directly into the main bedroom. Here, there was a huge bed which seemed much bigger than a king size bed, another TV, desk area and room for a suitcase.

The wardrobe area had a safe.

The bathroom had a bathtub, separate shower, toilet and wash basin.

The whole suite was very spacious, clean and comfortable. It was fantastic for our family of five and bigger than I imagined before coming. I was also happy to see an updated appearance over last time we had stayed at this hotel.

It can be hard for us to get decent sized rooms that suit our family size so we were very happy with this room.

Facilities

One of my favourite things about the Bayview Beach Resort Malaysia is all the facilities that are there. The resort is surrounded by big gardens where you can find many of things I mention in this section.

Main pool area

Of course, our favourite facility was the main swimming pool. Bayview Beach Resort Penang doesn’t just have one though – there are three options! There’s also an additional one that you can hire for private use.

The main, free form pool is the best. It’s a great size. There is also an amazing kids wading pool area with slides and water seemingly everywhere. Just perfect for toddlers and younger kids.

There’s also a children’s “play pool”. It’s all great.

If you have a kid aged from 3 to 6, there is an indoor play area (Play Land) made just for them with balls, pillows and a big gym play area. It’s great. In fact, my older kids really want to play here as well but I had to stop them so they wouldn’t disturb the younger kids.

There’s a big fitness centre, a tennis court and a basketball/volleyball court as well as a soccer area.

While there isn’t a day spa, there is the chance to have a massage while you relax in the beautiful grounds. This started at RM55 for 30 minutes.

By the beach, you can find the water sports centre. You can parasail (my kids love it!), go on a banana boat or jet ski.

They can also arrange limousine transfers to and from the airport or around the island. We used this service on our last day to get back to the airport which was a lifesaver. The day before at a similar time, we had not been able to get a Grab taxi at all, so I recommend you use this to make sure you won’t have a problem.

There are also other things sprinkled around the place like a table tennis table.

There’s also a convenience store on-site next to Play Land. It had good prices for the main things you might need as well as tons of swimming and pool/beach toys.

It was super handy to be able to grab things like water and a can of coke zero for the same prices as I’d pay at a shop down the road.

Dining

Bayview Beach Resort La Veranda Coffeehouse
La Veranda Coffeehouse

If you get hungry, you’ll find something to eat without a problem. There are two main restaurants and two bars. You can also have room service in your room. There are also some eating options opposite the hotel on the main road that are easy to access as well. Or take the walk into the heart of Batu Ferringhi for a huge variety of options.

La Veranda Coffeehouse is where you can start the day with a Bayview Beach Resort breakfast. There is a typical breakfast buffet here which is included in some room rates or you can pay for it once you are here.

We didn’t have breakfast included and the Bayview Beach Resort Penang buffet breakfast price of RM53 for 7+ year olds and RM32 for 4-7 year olds was too much. Thankfully, they have a better deal via room service, and we were able to have Bayview Beach Resort Penang breakfast for RM35 per set. Two sets were enough for our family.

In trying to work this out, we did find out none of the restaurants super close to our hotel were open at breakfast time, so it could be a good idea to book a room Bayview Beach Resort Penang that includes breakfast in the rate.

There’s also a la carte dining here from 11am to 11pm with a range of Malaysian and international options. You can choose to site inside or outside.

Bayview Beach Resort pool bar

For a more intimate dining environment, you can have dinner at the Marco Polo Restaurant which serves a “combination of European and Asian dishes that reflect Penang’s multicultural heritage”.

For more casual dining and a drink during the day, there is both a lobby bar and the Kelapa Bar and Coffeehouse next to the pool. The latter is ideal for a fresh juice or beer by the pool, and a sunset cocktail really hits the spot!

The lobby bar also has a selection of books you can read.

Final Words

I hope you have found this Bayview Beach Resort Penang review useful.

We had a great stay at the Bayview Beach Resort Batu Ferringhi beach. We love staying in Batu Ferringhi and this hotel really hits the spot in regards to facilities, great rooms and a great price point compared to surrounding options.

The only downside is this hotel is a little further from the main part of Batu Ferringhi than we’d like, but it still is an easy walk in the evening or a Grab is very cheap.

Many hotels have gone backwards over the pandemic but this hotel has not. It has been well cared for and is looking better than the last time we were here before the pandemic.

We will definitely stay here again.
