The prettiest island I have come across in Malaysia has to be Redang Island.  In fact, it’s one of the most beautiful islands I’ve visited in the entire world!

This island is just beautiful – from the jungle covered slopes to the white powdery sand to the crystal blue water. It seems made for tourism and, thankfully, it is easy to enjoy this island as a tourist thanks to some fabulous Redang Island hotels and resorts.

It’s also easy to visit Redang Island. Just a short boat ride from Kuala Terengganu, you can easily find yourself on the shores of this island within a half day of Kuala Lumpur. It is well worth the effort!

Laguna Redang Island Resort Review

Address: Teluk Siang, Redang Island, Kuala Terengganu

The Laguna Redang Island Resort is my pick for the best Redang resort.  If you just want my recommendation on where to stay in Redang Island – then stay here!  But don’t just take my word for it, read any other Redang Beach Resort review and you’ll see this regularly mentioned as one of the best.

Located on the southern end of the main beach area on Redang’s east coast, this resort at Redang Island is somewhat away from it all while still being close to other places to eat and shop, so you are not stuck at the resort.

The surrounding beach and jungle are as picturesque as you can see in the above photo. It literally took my breath away when I first arrived. I have been to many beach locations in the world on top of growing up on an island myself, and I think this is the top beach I have seen.

The Laguna is a great mix of being in a beautiful location while having a range of eating options nearby. The Redang Laguna Resort operates its own ferry to and from the mainland which makes getting here so easy especially as the resort is well run, and you always feel taken care of.

If you tire of the beach, the resort has many high standard facilities including a large pool, day spa, dive centre and gift shop. There is a recreation centre where you can hire equipment. There are also pool tables and board games here and many tours.

The Laguna Beach Resort Redang has several restaurants as well as its own food court, a variety of bars and a karaoke lounge/disco.

The beach bar is unbeatable right on the beach and with some yummy ice kacang.

There are a variety of room types, including ones with three or four beds which makes it easy for families. All rooms at this Pulau Redang best resort are spacious and well presented and come with air conditioning, television, tea and coffee making facilities and a mini-fridge. There are also options for sea view or pool view rooms.

For a treat, there are the Laguna Suites which also have a living area and long balcony. I highly recommend paying for at least a sea view. I mean if you’re going to splurge on the best hotel in Redang Island Malaysia – you might as well go all out!

Best Parts?

This hotel Pulau Redang offers has a beautiful beach and a gorgeous location with great rooms. The resort is also well run with its own ferry, which makes everything so easy.

Worst Parts? 

The buffet meals can be crowded, but unfortunately, most of the Pulau Redang resorts are. Wifi is only available in the beach bar and lobby and it’s not good – but you’re here to relax anyway so use the time to unplug. Phone reception is fine though.

Summary

Taaras Beach & Spa Resort Review

Address: Peti Surat 126, Main Post Office, Kuala Terengganu

If you are looking for a Redang luxury resort, you can find it at the Taaras Beach & Spa Resort Redang Island.

Located on the northern coast, the Taaras is located on a picturesque beach with powdery, white sand which isn’t as busy as the beaches on the east coast of the island. This is more isolated than staying in one of those resorts, but the Taaras offers enough to be very happy.

Whether you are looking for a resort in Redang Island, Malaysia for a romantic break or a family holiday, the Taaras Beach Resort Redang delivers! With rooms ranging from double to family options, you can choose a cliff top room or one by the beach.

For the ultimate Redang Island accommodation, there is also an incredible 5-bedroom villa located on a clifftop with great views, own infinity pool, elevator and butler.

This Redang best hotel has many facilities as well as a great tour desk. You can take a swim in the hotel pool, sing in the karaoke room or relax in the day spa. You can even take a cooking class or kayak with water sports available on site.

There is also a supervised playroom for kids.

There are several great restaurants at this 5 star hotel in Redang Island and we especially recommend the seafood. You can even dine on a floating platoon in the middle of the sea! There’s also the great Bayu Bar right on the beach where you can have a drink or eat.

Best Parts?

This Redang Island best resort is located on a gorgeous beach and has a great variety of rooms of a very high standard. There are also plenty of great facilities making it a top Redang 5 star hotel.

Worst Parts?

While this might be the best place to stay in Redang Island, the costs add up with a stay here. There is a high charge for the resort ferry to the resort, and the food is also expensive.

Summary

If the price isn’t a concern, then the Taaras hotel Redang is my top Redang resort review and I highly recommend it. This is a Redang 5 star resort and is the highest priced resort on the island and extra charges, like the ferry, can add up.

Redang Island Resort Review

Address: Teluk Siang, Redang Island, Kuala Terengganu

The Redang Island Resort is located on the more secluded southern side of the island. It is a budget option for Redang Malaysia hotels – as long as you don’t mind not having a great beach out the front door and aren’t looking for top quality.

Like most of the best resorts in Redang Island, this resort has great views of the sea and surrounding forest but the beach is a bit of a steep walk and isn’t that nice. There is, however, a free shuttle to take you to the nicer beaches on the northern side of the island by Taaras Beach & Spa Resort.

The Redang Island Beach Resort has a pool and children’s pool and can organise activities around the island for you. There is a games room, gym and day spa. There is a cafe on site as well as a bar and lounge.

The rooms at this Pulau Redang accommodation are all chalets and come with your choice of rainforest or sea view. They come with a TV, air conditioning, tea and coffee making facilities, mini bar and private balcony.

Unfortunately, most of the resort is run down and isn’t cleaned as well as it should be.

Best Parts?

This best Redang hotel has nice views and is located away from the main tourist parts of the island. It’s cheaper than most other options here.

Worst Parts? 

Unfortunately, the location isn’t ideal. It’s a shame to come to Redang Island and not be directly on the beach.  If you plan on spending a lot of time on the beach, then pick another one of the Pulau Redang hotels from this guide.

It’s also badly in need of renovation.

Summary

This resort Redang Island is a 3-star option and it doesn’t really deliver that. There are some nice facilities, but the resort is showing its age. The main problem is that it is not on a beautiful beach and, although the free shuttle service is good, it’s nicer to stay in one of the other best resorts in Redang which are on the beach since that’s why you usually come to the Island in the first place.

I only recommend this hotel if you can’t afford any of the others.

Sari Pacifica Resort & Spa Review

Address: Long Beach, Redang Island, Kuala Terengganu

Another option of a beach resort Redang offers is the Sari Pacifica, also located on the eastern strip of beaches towards the northern end. It’s beachfront and it’s a gorgeous beach.

In addition to the beach, this top hotel in Redang features a great beachfront pool, a gym, day spa, bar and a restaurant serving a variety of cuisines.

This Redang accommodation offers villas which can accommodate between two to four people and you can choose to be seafront or have a garden/pool view. All come with air conditioning, mini bar and TV.

The rooms can be basic compared to many other Pulau Redang hotels and resorts on this list and the resort is ageing. There is a full refurbishment planned so hopefully this is fixed soon. At the moment, many people end up in rooms that they hate, that are dirty and that are far from ideal. The rooms closest to the beach seem to be the best if you stay here.

There is a choice of room rates and you can go for an all inclusive option or just breakfast and dinner or just breakfast included. The food is good, although the restaurant area needs a renovation.

Best Parts?

This Pulau Redang best hotel has a nice beachfront pool and some great all inclusive options. The location is great.

Worst Parts?

Unfortunately, this accommodation in Redang Island is ageing and overpriced for what you get.

Summary

If you want a pool on the main resort part of the island on a beautiful beach, you can get that at this best hotel Redang. However, compared to other resorts in Redang Island Malaysia, it does not deserve a 4-star rating, and there are far better choices.

Redang Bay Resort Review

Address: 131, Jalan Bandar, Kuala Terengganu

Redang Bay Resort is a Redang holiday beach resort just to the north of the Laguna which has a beautiful beach setting and easy access to other restaurants and facilities in this popular strip on Redang.

In addition to the beautiful beach right out the front of this Redang beach hotel, there is a swimming pool, dive centre, souvenir shop, a restaurant and a beachfront bar with live music in the evenings.

This is also one of the cheap hotels in Redang Island IF you want direct beach access and are travelling alone – as there is the option of dorm beds. With the starting price of over RM300, this place is definitely not cheap – just relatively so. However, given the price includes all meals and these can really add up on Redang, this is not a bad price given the location.

There are also quad rooms and basic chalets for two people. The prices, again, include all meals so remember this when you are checking out the prices. The rooms all have air conditioning.

Best Parts?

In terms of being cost effective with its, prime location, all inclusive rates and the option of a dorm bed- this is the best resort in Pulau Redang.

Worst Parts? 

It is quite expensive when you look at the prices beforehand – just remember that it does include meals! Rooms are relatively basic and many need renovating. If you like an early night, you mightn’t like the live music.

Summary

This is a top resort in Redang if you want a more budget friendly option in a great location with all meals included. It’s especially good for solo travellers with the option of dorm beds. Keep in mind that it is a more budget option though, so don’t have high expecatations.

Redang Paradise Resort Review

Address: GM41, Lot No. 92, Tempat Pasir Panjang, Redang Island, Terengganu

Located next door to the Redang Bay Resort is another one of the budget hotels on Redang Island. With direct beach access, you can enjoy one of these wooden chalets with air conditioning.

The chalets also have comfortable beds and private bathrooms. They come with beds for five making this best chalet in Redang Island for bargain hunting groups or families. You can pay extra for a sea view.

Many of the holiday resort Redang reviews for this resort complain about the bathrooms needing an urgent update – so do keep this in mind if you decide to book. In fact, the whole resort needs a facelift. This is definitely only recommended if you need the cheaper price.

This resort is all about the beach and so you won’t find many facilities here. If you don’t mind not having a pool or other options or an older room, this is a great price for such a prime location.

There is, however, a restaurant on site. Breakfast is compulsory and usually only included for two people with a mandatory charge for any others.

For travellers on a low budget, this is one of the hotels Redang Island offers which is worth considering on the popular Redang beach. I wouldn’t pick it if you can pay for something better though.

Redang De’ Rimba Review

Address: Lot 171, Kampung Baru, Redang Island

The Redang De’Rimba Resort is a winner in this best hotel in Redang Island list if you want a budget option. It’s the cheapest choice on the list and is of a good (but basic) standard.

This two-star hotel is located a short walk from Teluk Dalam beach (10-15 minutes) and Taaras Resort so you don’t get beachfront access. Also be aware that some rooms are a steep walk up many stairs so I don’t recommend this option unless you are happy walking up a ton of steps to your room.

There is a lack of facilities here apart from a restaurant which is just ok. There are other restaurants nearby and a great option is to eat at the restaurants at the nearby Taaras.

Tours can be arranged, but foreigners may prefer to use the tour desk at the nearby Taaras instead, which has more information and assistance available.

There are twin, double and quad rooms here and they all come with private bathrooms, TV, air conditioning and balconies.

If you’re after places to stay in Redang Island with a low budget – this is your best choice. It’s not just the hotel that’s cheaper but there are cheaper eating options.

Worst Parts?

If you want a beachfront hotel – then this is not the best hotel Pulau Redang offers for you.  The hotel is not on the beach, the rooms are basic and can be up many stairs. In fact, get ready to be walking a lot if you stay here between the stairs to the rooms, the beach being a distance and visiting restaurants.

Summary

If the price is everything then this is a good price for the island and so certainly one of the best hotels in Pulau Redang to consider. As long as you don’t mind a walk to the beach and a basic hotel, you can enjoy the beautiful beach and restaurants at the Taaras without the high price.
