Address: Jalan Haven, (Persiaran Lembah Perpaduan), Tambun, Ipoh,

Here is another good hotel in Ipoh that’s located on the outskirts of town. The Haven Resort Hotel, Ipoh is near The Lost World of Tambun, being a 5 minute taxi ride away. This luxury hotel is another contender for the best resort in Ipoh.

The Haven offers one, two and three-bedroom suites, each with serene views. There are horizon views and lake views, and all suites come with a balcony, a kitchen and comfortable living area. The bigger suites can accommodate five to seven people making this hotel ideal for families and other big groups.

MH Hotel Review

Address: PT 212695B, Jalan Medan Ipoh 1A, Medan Ipoh Bistari, Perak, Taman Bandaraya, Ipoh

This option should be included on any Ipoh budget hotel list. This hotel near Ipoh is available for a great price and is located on the outer edges of town. While it’s a bit farther from Old Town, it’s still in a good location. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance.

A wide variety of rooms are available at the MH Hotel. There are varying bedding configurations, including two twins, a king, or one queen and one twin. Executive, family and corporate suites are available, and they offer a bit more space than the standard rooms. Some of the rooms are in need of a freshen up with the carpet becoming worn.

In a standard room with one king bed, you’ll get free WiFi, a flatscreen TV with Astro channels, an electric safe, a fridge, air-conditioning, mineral water, a hair dryer and toiletries.

This hotel offers a spa, several restaurants and a rooftop bar.

Best Parts?

It’s affordable, close to plenty of eateries, and some of the rooms feature a unique and colourful design theme.

Worst Parts?

It’s a bit farther from Old Town, so you’ll have to either deal with taking taxis or find another option closer to the city centre. Some of the rooms are musty.

Mu Hotel Review

Mu Hotel Ipoh

Address: PT 212695B, Jalan Medan Ipoh 1A, Medan Ipoh Bistari, Perak, Taman Bandaraya, Ipoh

Mu Hotel is a great, 3 star option in a central location a quick Grab ride or longer walk from the Old Town. It’s a great balance of price, comfort and location. It’s surrounded by eating options and it’s about a 8-minute walk from the night market.

There is a range of room options at the Mu Hotel which is what we attracted us, especially as there is a great two bedroom deluxe unit which is great for families. In this room type, you get two bedrooms as well as a desk area.

All rooms have air-conditioning, mini-fridge, wifi, smart TV and everything you would expect in a 3-star hotel. In fact, it’s definitely one of the better 3-star hotels I have stayed in in Malaysia, maybe the best.

The rooms are also clean, quiet and very comfortable. You can upgrade to a room with a courtyard if you wish.

The only downside of Mu Hotel is that there isn’t a pool. There is a gym, a little inside play area, a restaurant (open for breakfast and lunch) and a rooftop bar. However, the bar wasn’t open when we visited which is a shame as it would be perfect for a sunset cocktail.

It’s a great price and is super comfortable, modern and quiet. The location is handy too.

If you’re in search of a 3 star hotel in Ipoh, M Boutique is a smart choice. You get a lot of bang for your buck with this hotel, which is located just south of Old Town.

This hotel offers nice suites along with standard rooms. The premiere rooms and suites have a lovely atmosphere for honeymoons and other romantic getaways. There are also a few family rooms with more space and beds. In a standard room, you get free WiFi and air-conditioning. Whilst some rooms are small, they are charming and elegant.

The hotel provides a self-service laundry, a gym which is open 24 hours, a boutique store, bar and coffee shop.

Best Parts?

This is a great budget hotel in Ipoh town. It’s affordable, and the design theme mimics many of the pre-war shop houses from historical Malaya. It’s also very conveniently located.

The standard rooms don’t have windows, which might make some travellers a bit claustrophobic.

Summary

This Ipoh hotel near town is good for those who are looking to save money and just need a clean and comfortable room. It’s near Old Town, but you might still need to use a taxi to get around.

Address: Jalan Lim Bo Seng, Kampung Jawa, Ipoh

This 4 star hotel in Ipoh can be found just on the outskirts of Old Town. Concubine Lane is just a 15 minute walk away. This is a mid-range hotel offering nice rooms at great prices, especially considering the prime location.

This Ipoh apartment hotel features modern rooms that come with a flatscreen TV, minifridges, irons, complimentary toiletries and hairdryers. All rooms offer excellent views of the surrounding city, and some have riverfront views. WiFi is free in all rooms.

The hotel could use a nice renovation. Although air-conditioning is offered, it isn’t very effective in some of the rooms.

Hotel Excelsior Review

Address: 43, Jalan Sultan Abdul Jalil, Ipoh City, Ipoh

Here is another option for a budget hotel near Ipoh Parade. Located right in the heart of town, the Hotel Excelsior is a great option for the backpacker with more sophisticated tastes. It is an easy walk to Old Town.

At this hotel in Ipoh town centre, you can choose an executive suite, a junior suite, or a family suite. All rooms come with a built-in safe, a coffee maker, free WiFi and air-conditioning. French Hotel Review

Address: 60 Jalan Dato Onn Jaafar, Kampung Jawa, Ipoh

This cheap hotel in Ipoh is ideal for budget backpackers. It’s located within easy walking distance of the Old Town near all the best shopping and dining establishments.

French Hotel is as affordable as an Ipoh backpacker hostel but with the benefits of a hotel. All 48 guest rooms are smoke-free and feature wooden flooring and oversized beds. There are superior, deluxe and super-deluxe rooms, and you can choose between twin, queen, or king beds.

All rooms at this guest house Ipoh come with free WiFi, a flatscreen TV, solar showers, bottled water and tea, safes, minifridges and air-conditioning.

Best Parts?

This hotel offers the affordability of an Ipoh hostel but with added privacy. It’s in a good location close to Old Town. It also offers some unique facilities, like the solar-powered showers.
