Our Story

Our names are Sharon and Joshua, and we love Malaysia!

We have travelled this country extensively. We also lived in Penang with our young family. We really valued this experience and now visit Malaysia multiple times per year with our three kids currently aged 7, 11 and 13 from Australia. We have been travelling in Malaysia since they were babies! And before that, we visited alone.

We can’t recommend this country highly enough as both an awesome tourist and family destination. We love the cultural mix, the food, the stunning attractions and how welcoming everyone is.

In fact, I love visiting this part of the world so much that I returned to university in my thirties and completed an arts degree majoring in Asian Studies at Griffith University. This included studying the Malay language.

I also have a Certificate III in International Travel Sales from AFTA (Australian Federation of Travel Agents) Education and Training and have been certified by Tourism Malaysia as a Malaysia Travel Expert.

I visit as much as I can with my first visit taking place 21 years ago! I especially love Penang (OMG the food!) and Borneo. There’s nothing else like snorkelling around the Semporna Islands or hiking through the Kelabit Highlands.

We previously worked as full time family travel bloggers but are happier now just focusing on our love of Malaysia and Germany. We work full-time as travel writers for these sites and always aim to share the most useful information possible.

When we aren’t working on this site or travelling in Malaysia, we hang out with our kids at home in Melbourne.

We know how difficult planning travel can be, particularly with a family, so we’re here to help lessen the burden and ensure you have an awesome time in Malaysia.
