Day 1 – Visit The Most Popular Tourist Attractions

Gardens by the Bay
Gardens by the Bay

Where better to start your 3 days, 2 nights Singapore itinerary than at the futuristic Gardens by the Bay? Situated directly behind Marina Bay Sands, the simplest way to arrive is by the clean and efficient MRT, alighting at Bayfront MRT Station via the Circle Line or Downtown Line.

Plan out at least 3 hours, if not longer, as there is much to see here. Start your exploration by taking a stroll through the Flower Dome, filled with unique plants that seem to blossom all year round. Then drop by the adjacent Cloud Forest, where you’re immediately transported to an alpine climate and can enjoy a walk around the top of a marvellous waterfall.

Next, it’s time to discover the various Outdoor Gardens, which include a drylands-and-dessert world at the Sun Pavilion, a look back at the history of Singapore in the Heritage Gardens, rock gardens at The Canyon, and a beautiful botanical world awaits at World of Plants.

Keep an eye open throughout the gardens for unique (and often clever) Art Sculptures – with Planet (Floating Baby) being the most famous.

Finally, having saved the best for last, spend time at the Supertree Grove where most visitors stand in awe admiring the 18 Supertrees that can measure up to 16-storeys in height. As seen on many tourism adverts for Singapore, these Supertrees are vertical gardens that resemble towering trees, with large canopies.

Unique, gorgeous and extremely photogenic, try laying on the grass underneath the trees for some great photo angles!

It’s now time to leave the peace and calm of the Gardens and transfer to Orchard Road – Singapore’s luxury shopping mecca – by a 10 minute taxi ride or via the MRT to Orchard Station on the North South line.  Orchard Road is 2.5 km of upscale shops, megastores, department stores and dining options that fit all budgets.

Singapore Skypark
Singapore Skypark

Some of Orchard’s iconic malls include ION Orchard – a 66,000 sqm space filled with upscale labels such as Bottega Veneta, Louis Vuitton, and everyday high-street brands such as H&M. For the youth and fashionable shoppers, head to Far East Plaza that is noted for its trendy street clothes.

Orchard Central is another standout, offering a uniquely quirky-designed mall with digital art displayed on the exterior and many art installations dotted around inside. And do stop for a rest, enjoying a well earned lunch along the way!

Once your wallet and feet are worn out, jump back on the MRT and take the Downtown Line to Promenade Station. From here, it’s just a short 5 minute walk to the iconic Singapore Flyer – one of the world’s largest ferris/observation wheels.

Offering views – on a clear day – across to Malaysia and Indonesia, you’ll also enjoy magnificent views of the city. With 28 fully air-conditioned glass capsules, take a 30 minute ride on the Flyer, seeing how many of Singapore’s well-known historical sights – such as the Merlion and Singapore River – you can spot!

Click here for discounted Singapore Flyer tickets.

As you’re now reaching the end of the day, there’s no better place to watch the sunset than from the top of Marina Bay Sands at the famed Skypark. Take a 10 minute walk across the bridge to the hotel, where you’ll take the lift lobby at Front Tower 3 up to the 57th floor to the SkyPark Observation Deck.

Keep cameras ready as you’ll be astonished by the 360-degree scenic views of Marina Bay and Singapore’s world-class cityscape, usually awash in red glows as the sun sets on the horizon.

Click here for discounted tickets for the SkyPark Observation Deck.

And if you wish to hang around and catch an evening cocktail or dinner, be sure to book in advance a table at the LAVO Italian Restaurant & Rooftop Bar or reserve a booth at CE LA VI Club Lounge which usually has a resident DJ playing cool tunes. Both can be found on the 57th Floor and offer excellent food and views.

Day 2 –  Experience Singapore’s Local Culture

Little India Singapore
Little India

Chinese, Malay and Indian make up the majority of Singapore’s ethnic groups, and throughout the city, some areas highlight these unique cultures. Today, on Day 2 of your things to see in Singapore in 3 days itinerary, your five senses will come alive as you delve into each of these different regions.

Starting at aromatic Little India, you’ll first notice the strong smell of spice and incense in the air, and the sounds of cheerful Punjabi and Hindustani music. This buzzing ethnic district has a vibrant shopping area where you can pick up colourful saris, bangles and much more.

But begin your exploration with a visit to the Tan Teng Niah Residence, possibly the last Chinese villa in the city. Found along Serangoon Road, only a few metres from Little India MRT Station, this is a great first-stop for a slice of old-Singapore.

Move on to the nearby Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple, one of the oldest surviving temples in Singapore, before dropping into the Indian Heritage Centre to immerse yourself in all things Indian and South Asian.

At the end of Serangoon Road, you’ll sense the change of region, as suddenly wafts of Middle-Eastern food fill the air and shops are stocked high with rugs, lamps and all things Arabic. …you’ve reached the infamous Bugis and Kampong Glam Muslim neighbourhood.

Peaking between and above buildings, you’ll easily spot the Sultan Mosque with its golden domes twinkling in the sun. Open to visitors, spend a quiet hour here appreciating the ornate architecture of the interior and learning more about the importance of the region at the onsite Malay Heritage House.

Arab Quarter
Arab Quarter

Stomachs are sure to be grumbling by now, and there’s no end of Turkish and Middle-Eastern restaurants tempting you with their exotic menu selections. Wander the small streets and alleys, letting your nose lead the way! And keep an eye out for the stunning shophouses of Arab Street and the weirdly wonderful graffiti street-art that is famed within the Quarter. Floating pigs, snakes and more decorate – often from pavement-to-ceiling – houses and restaurants.

After lunch, take a walk along Haji Lane – a favourite hanging-out area for the youth of Singapore, along with many quirky vintage shops.

Your last stop of the day is chaotic Chinatown, found on the North East and Downtown MRT lines. You’ll instantly feel transported to China, with the fragrant smells of traditional cuisine, to the bold red and gold colours that are everywhere in the neighbourhood.

Proud of its heritage, there is much to discover in Chinatown, starting at The Buddha Tooth Relic Temple. A truly remarkable sprawling 4-storey temple, with a bell and drum tower, the highlight is the solid gold 2 metre stupa on the 4th floor where the sacred Buddha Tooth is kept.

Moving on, you’ll easily spot the Sri Mariamman Temple – the oldest shrine in Singapore and one of the most prominent places of worship for Tamil Hindus in the country. Gorgeously ornate, the Temple is covered on all sides with colourful sculptures of Hindu deities. And drop by the Chinatown Heritage Centre, one of Singapore’s best museums, focusing on the rich history of old Chinatown and the life of its migrants.

No visit to Chinatown is complete without sampling the tasty cuisine! You’ll find an almost endless choice of restaurants to dine at, but we recommend heading to either of Chinatown’s Hawker Centres – Chinatown Complex Food Centre or Maxwell Food Centre. Both offer the best-of-the-best Chinese street-food, with many award-winning vendors.

Finish this wonderful day on a high, at the Pinnacle@Duxton Skybridge. Located on top of the world’s tallest residential building, visitors can – for a minimal fee – take a ride up to the viewing platform on the 50th floor for amazing 360-degree city views.

Day 3 – Have Fun At Sentosa Island

Sentosa Island
Sentosa Island

We couldn’t finish this Singapore 3 days 2 nights itinerary blog post without including one of the best places to see in Singapore in 3 days…Sentosa Island. A day of full-on fun awaits!

You’ll start the morning with a lovely cable-car ride from the main island of Singapore over to Sentosa Island. Take the MRT to Harbourfront Station and ride the cable-car with cameras at the ready for yet more great views across to the city.

Sentosa is a small island that’s packed high with fun activities, unique experiences and mind-blowing theme park rides. Where to start your day is hard to advise with so much to cram in, but to make it easier on your feet and sanity, we suggest deciding whether to spend the whole day at Universal Studios Singapore or mixing it up with a couple of the island’s different attractions.

Some of the highlights include – for those on the hunt for adrenaline-inducing activities – the Mega Adventure Park with a 60 km/h MegaZip Flying Fox, 36-obstacle treetop ropes course and an 8 metres high trampoline!

Alternatively, discover iFly Singapore for a unique skydiving experience, where – with just a short lesson – you’ll soon be performing spins and turns high in the air, in the safety of a wind tunnel.

Or perhaps an up-close wildlife experience is more your thing? Adventure Cove Waterpark – full of great rides and thrills – is also home to Dolphin Island, where you can spend a few hours with the playful animals, either poolside or even from within the pool.

With the S.E.A. Aquarium, Madame Tussauds Singapore, the Trick Eye Museum and the excellent Skyline Luge ride also awaiting your exploration… The list of what to do is exhaustive!

You’ll discover New York City, Sci-Fi City, Egypt and the Lost World to name but a few.  With rides that spin you, thrill you and scare you… Universal Studios Singapore will perhaps be the highlight of all you experience in Singapore in three days!

Singapore Itinerary – 3 Days For Family

This 3 days 2 nights Singapore itinerary is specially tailored towards families and takes you around all the best things to do in Singapore for 3 days. The city is Asia’s premier family-friendly destination, and with almost perfect weather all year round, you’re in for a great few days!

Renowned as one of the safest and greenest cities in the world, with the clean MRT making it simple to move between activities and attractions, families adore the city and can easily discover all the must-see in Singapore in 3 days!

Before we start, just a quick reminder to research well before booking your accommodation. You might find that you can visit Singapore in 3 days and stay in Sentosa, rather than a city-based hotel. It really depends on how you plan to fill your days, but following the below sample itinerary for Singapore 3 days for family, we recommend that at least your first night is at Sentosa. You can then change for the second and third night to a city-based hotel if that suits your Singapore itinerary 3 days budget.

Day 1 – Have A Blast At Sentosa Island

cable car in Sentosa Singapore
Cable car in Sentosa

There’s no better place to commence your 3 days trip from Singapore than at thrilling Sentosa Island. In fact, there’s so much to do here that you could easily spend your entire 3 days 2 nights in Singapore at Sentosa!

A small island off the tip of Singapore, if you’re staying in the city take the MRT to Harbourfront Station and catch a lovely cable car ride across to Sentosa. With 360-degree scenic views, the arrival is part of the fun!

Click here for discounted tickets for the cable car.

Sentosa rocks!  Jam-packed with exhilarating rides, a waterpark, Asia’s largest theme park, a modern-day go-kart track, world-class aquarium and much more! So, before you arrive, we recommend planning out your day, checking the best attractions against the age and activity level of your children.

Universal Studios Singapore is, without doubt, the most favoured and famous attraction at Sentosa, with over 28 rides and shows, aimed at all age groups. You’ll definitely need an entire day here to tick off every adventure and experience.

Click here for discounted tickets for Universal Studios.

Dolphin Island Singapore
Dolphin show

Equally thrilling, but perhaps less well known, is Sentosa’s Adventure Cove Waterpark. Exhilarating slides and encounters with dolphins and rays await you here, along with a stunning reef that’s great for snorkelling and home to over 20,000 tropical fish! You’ll probably need around 5 hours here and, again, don’t forget to research before arriving and prebook the encounters to make the visit that extra special.

Sentosa is split into three stations, reachable by a monorail train known as the Sentosa Express, crossing the small island in only 8 minutes. At the final station, you’ll find one of our favourite activities, a really terrific family-friendly experience, the Skyline Luge.

Ride a chair-lift, with great ocean views, before jumping off at the top of the hill and grabbing your modern-day gokart. Sit down in your luge (with young children riding tandem with adults), and off you go for an exhilarating 5-6 minutes of snaking paths down to – hopefully – cross the finish line first. The only problem with the luge is kids never get bored of it!

Click here for discounted tickets for the Skyline Luge.

If you prefer to avoid the heat of the day or want to teach your children about sea life, head to the incredible S.E.A. Aquarium, housing a staggering 100,000 marine animals from over 1,000 species! Under 4’s are free, with child tickets 4-12 years, and there are many close-encounters on offer so check their website before arriving.

Click here for discounted tickets for S.E.A. Aquarium.

Whatever you choose for today – and of course you can’t fit them all in – end your Sentosa adventures at Palawan Beach, reachable by a lovely coastal path from the final Station. Children can enjoy a sunset beach play on the lovely white sand, whilst you grab a well earned drink—a great way to end Day One of your Singapore trip, 3 days 2 night.

Day 2 – Check Out Singapore’s Exotic Wildlife

Singapore River Safari Panda
River Safari Panda

Today you’ll be surrounded by wild animals, explore amazing rainforest vegetation and perhaps even seek out animals under the moonlight. Day Two of your Singapore travel itinerary 3 days trip, is all about wildlife!

Famous for being one of the world’s top zoos, Singapore Zoo is spread across 28 hectares of rainforest and is our recommendation for your first stop today. Located a little outside of the city, it’s best to splurge on a car and driver. Click here to arrange a car and driver. Alternatively, you can reach the Zoo by a combination of MRT and bus too – see details here.

We recommend arriving early, so your family can have the run of the place before the mid-morning crowds start to arrive. Also, try to visit on a weekday and pre-book tickets online for ease of entrance (with free entry for your little ones under 3 years).

Famed for its open-air concept, the zoo is designed as a rainforest environment, with animals living in fields or landscaped areas based on their natural habitat – you won’t find boxed cages or sad sights here.

Ensure to pick-up a map at the entrance and plan out your route, with highlights including the fun orangutans and – usually a delight for children – feeding sessions with elephants, giraffes, goats and white rhino!

Don’t forget to pack water, and we recommend taking along mosquito spray as the jungle atmosphere can sometimes bring along some insects. You’ll also need a hat and cool clothing as it’s incredibly humid at the Zoo. For lunch, you’ll find lots of options at the main entrance area – with kid’s favourites such as hot dogs and pasta well covered.

And, a quick mention for Rainforest Kidzworld, as a great splash-and-play area for children (don’t forget to pack swimwear) when the heat gets too much for them. Also, relax and recoup at any one of the shows – there are usually four or five, with morning and afternoon sessions. Favourites include The Splash Safari, with a frisbee-playing sea lion, and for those interested in snakes and cheeky monkeys and funny lemurs, catch the Rainforest Fights Back show.

River Safari Singapore
River Safari boat cruise

Due to the high humidity, if you’re travelling with toddlers or infants, you might prefer to bypass the Zoo and head opposite to the River Safari. A relatively new addition to Singapore’s Wildlife Reserves, this award-winning park is Asia’s first river-themed wildlife park.

The River Safari is ideal for your younger children, as you can jump on a river-boat and cruise around the Congo, Mekong and Mississippi, before spending time at cooler walk-through exhibits or check-out marine life at freshwater aquariums. Usually less hectic than the Zoo, so fewer visitors helps to ensure that your smaller children can easily view the animals, there is still a lot to enjoy with over 7000 animals housed in the park.

And finally, if you and the children have the energy, there’s yet another wildlife experience to enjoy in the evening – the Night Safari. Almost as famous as the Zoo, Singapore’s Night Safari is one of the best things to do in Singapore at night.

Just along the road from the main Zoo, the Night Safari is an excellent way to finish your day or to view animals without the heat of the day. Nocturnal animals are displayed, similar to the Zoo,  in an open-air environment in fields that have strategic spotlights around watering-holes or feeding spots, that makes for some very atmospheric viewing!

Visitors ride a small tram through the park, under twinkling stars and surrounded by the hum of thousands of insects – definitely one of the more unique activities on this Singapore sample itinerary 3 days.

We wouldn’t recommend trying to fit into one day the Zoo, River, and Night Safari, but depending on the age of your children you can definitely mix up whichever two best suits your time and budget.

Day 3 – Spend The Day In The Marina Bay Area

Marina Bay Sands
Marina Bay Sands

Wondering what to see in Singapore in 3 days? Marina Bay and the attractions in the surrounding area are almost definitely top of your list and today, Day 3, we’ll be taking you to some of the most iconic Singapore attractions.

Commence your day at the ArtScience Museum, located at the Bayfront directly next to the infamous Marina Bay Sands Hotel – Singapore’s most famous landmark with its three 55-storey hotel towers that seem to overshadow most of the city.

Jump off the MRT at Bayfront, Promenade or the Marina Bay Station, and walk towards the hotel. You’ll soon spot the wonderfully lotus-shaped design of the Museum, with 10 irregular-sized petals that are said to be a symbolic gesture of welcome to guests from across the globe.

Step inside to enter a futuristic world that uses a combination of art and technology to showcase mostly interactive exhibitions, with thrills and surprises for all age groups. With a total area of 50,000 sqft, there’s more than enough to keep you busy for a few hours.

Try to visit on Family Friday’s (on a non-public or school-holiday), as with every 1 adult ticket free entry is offered to anyone under 12-years. And after you’re done exploring, grab some lunch just outside the museum where there’s a relaxed seating area and many dining options in the adjacent mall.

Click here for discounted tickets for the ArtScience Museum.

Refreshed, it’s time to wiz up to the 57th Floor of the Marina Bay Sands and check out its amazing Skypark Observation Deck, spanning across the top of the three towers. Said to resemble a giant surfboard – or even a spaceship – visitors not staying at the hotel can enjoy the incredible 360-degree views of the city and across to Sentosa Island. Children are sure to enjoy the giddy heights and ear-popping elevator ride!

Click here for discounted tickets for the Skypark Observation Deck.

Singapore Flyer Ferris Wheel At Night View
Singapore Flyer Ferris Wheel

Back down to the ground floor and walk the short distance across the river to the impressive Singapore Flyer, one of the largest ferris wheels in the world. Is there any child that will say no to a ride on a ferris wheel?

Cameras at the ready, as you spin 30 minutes in your shared capsule very slowly taking in epic city views and even across to Malaysia and Indonesia on a good-weather day!

Guests under 3-years of age ride free.

Click here for discounted tickets for the Singapore Flyer.

And the final stop on your Singapore itinerary for families is, the fast-becoming legendary, Gardens of the Bay. Located just behind Marina Bay Sands, it is just a short walk from the Singapore Flyer.

With Singapore priding itself on being one of the world’s greenest cities, this extraordinary landmark showcases unique plants and forestry – perhaps some of the most stunning that you’ll ever see. Originating from just a simple green space, Gardens of the Bay is today home to a broad spectrum of educational and Instagram-worthy attractions.

Avoiding the last heat of the day, start your exploration at the Flower Dome. The world’s largest glass greenhouse, you’ll discover plants from far-flung places such as South Africa and Madagascar.

Then, dive into the adjacent Cloud Forest to experience chilly moist air that represents a mountain environment. Children will marvel at the 30-metre indoor waterfall and enjoy walking on the metal bridge that loops high in the sky around it.

Next up, take time out to let the children play at the Children’s Garden, which is split into areas for toddlers and children aged 6-12. Bring swimwear as there are some great splash-fountains, sprinklers and buckets for the youngsters to enjoy.

Finally, as the sun sets, it’s time to look up at the 18 iconic Supertrees that can be found at the Supertree Grove. Stretching an impressive 25-50 metres into the sky, as the evening’s stars come out the trees are magically transformed into a fairy-wonderland, as thousands of fairy lights are turned on. Older children will enjoy strolling the OCBC Skyway that connects a couple of the trees.

This Singapore itinerary 3 days blog post is now over, but there is lots more to see! Consider extending your stay and check out our Singapore Itinerary – 5 Days with Kids for more ideas.
