Our Full Club Med Cherating Review And Walk Through
The best way to describe this resort is simply just to show you!
The following is an edited review I made with my 7 year old daughter. It’s actually not even showing all the resort facilities, there are so many.
Club Med Cherating Beach Rooms
With more than one kid, you will need two rooms. We stayed in a suite with connecting club room after loving our suite when we first visited Club Med last year in Mauritius.
The suite is fabulous, but I found the club room small and worn. It needs refurbishing.
The suite has two rooms – a big bedroom with massive bathroom and a living area. The best part, however, is the full balcony looking out to the sea. You can see it all in the video above.
However, you really won’t spend long in your room so it doesn’t matter much.
Facilities And Activites
The facilities at Club Med Cherating Beach and the activity program are great. There is so much to do and it’s all in a gorgeous setting. Just walking around the resort can feel like a jungle adventure as it’s located in the jungle and built to blend into the surrounds.
There are two beaches. One in the main resort and the other a short “train” ride away. The whole area is gorgeous.
The main pool area is nice and then there are all the activities – trapeze, treetop adventure, jungle trails, tennis, archery… the list goes on and on! Many of them are in the above video.
You can catch the “train” to the other beach or take a jungle walk. Make sure you do the jungle walk at least once.
The adults only pool area by the second beach is just stunning – see it below!
There are shows every night as well as themed dinners and dance parties. There are games, workouts and classes during the day.
You won’t be bored unless you want to be.
Food
The food is superb with many different dining options. Being in Malaysia, there was always some great Malay, Indian and Chinese options as well as Korean and Japanese. There are also plenty of western options and huge dessert and salad areas.
Most drinks are included and there are three bars on top of the two restaurants.
There are some great theme nights as well. It’s a good idea to check out the schedule before you arrive – you can download the Club Med app to see it and try to take some clothes to wear. You don’t have to dress to the theme, but it is more fun.
White Night is the best night and it’s great if you can wear white! The whole pool area is decorated beautifully and we were able to eat right by the pool while watching a show over the water. Just brilliant!
Service
Apart from a huge problem we had at the end of our stay, our biggest issue at the resort was the service.
The staff are friendly and nice but whenever something didn’t go right, we were met with total incompetence.
For example, our room type comes with a free minibar. This should have been stocked when we arrived. It wasn’t and it took three requests for this to be fixed.
We kept dealing with issues like this throughout our stay.
We also had the ridiculous experience of our baby vomiting all over our bed in the evening and no one being around to change it and the sheets all locked up or some other rubbish.
I would happily have changed it but they struggled to get us anything to use instead! Plus with the price we were paying, I probably shouldn’t have to change my own sheets.
Club Med Cherating Beach Review With Kids
This is a great place to visit with kids. The kids are welcome anywhere but the adults only area.
There are so many cool things for them to try and do.
The kids club is excellent and my 6 and 7 year olds spent a lot of time there. They also have an active toddler and baby club and we were able to leave our 1 year old there whenever we wanted (at extra charge).
The kids club gets out and about and they do things like go on boat trips or on the trapeze. Some evenings, they put on shows for the adults.
I don’t think we have ever experienced anywhere better for kids. At least until…
The HUGE Problem
My husband and 1 year old got terrible food poisoning. Just terrible.
It happened right at the end of our stay so it could only have been food from the resort.
I have never seen either of them so sick and it ruined the rest of our Malaysia and Singapore trip. It was also very scary to see my baby so ill.
It is such a shame as I would love to say in this Cherating Club Med review that you should 100% visit this resort but I can’t. Before the last day, I would have said we would go back, but I think my husband would rather never leave Australia again than risk feeling that way again.
So should you go? Up to you. I hope the food poisoning was an isolated experience and, otherwise, this resort is beautiful and lots of fun.
