Grand Margherita Hotel Kuching Review

Address: Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, P.O.Box 2362, Kuching City Center, Kuching

Wondering where to stay in Kuching Malaysia? The Grand Margherita Hotel Kuching Sarawak is known to be Sarawak’s first international hotel. It’s in a great spot directly by the river, just on the edge of the main central area. This means it can be a bit further to some of central attractions than other options on the list, but it is still quite well located.

It features rooms and suites that have a warm decor, and they come with free WiFi, flatscreen TVs, tea and coffee making facilities, minifridges and air-conditioning.

You can choose between a range wide of twin and king room types. Paying more will get you more space and a river view. There are also suite and studio rooms with more space and living and dining areas.

Summary

Overall, this is a lovely hotel to stay in Kuching with a great range of facilities and room types near the river. The only downside is that it isn’t as well maintained as some others on this list at this price point. It is also a strategically located hotel in Kuching town centre with stunning river views.

56 Hotel Kuching Review

Address: Lot 2228 & 2229 Section 64 KTLD Jalan Tun Jugah, Kuching City Center, Kuching

If you’re looking for a hotel near Vivacity Megamall Kuching, this modern green building is close by. However, it is about four kilometres from the city’s central riverfront area, so it’s not that convenient for sightseeing.

All rooms at the 56 Hotel Kuching Sarawak Malaysia include a flatscreen TV, free WiFi, tea and coffee making facilities, air-conditioning and private bathroom. There are king and twin bed options.

Parking is free for guests. There’s a restaurant on-site with local and international options as well as a 24 hour front desk.

Best Parts?

Hotel 56 Kuching Sarawak offers clean and comfortable rooms for a good price.

Kingwood Hotel Kuching Review

Address: Lot 618, Section 62, KTLD, Jalan Padungan, Kuching City Center, Kuching

Next up on our list of Kuching hotel is the Kingwood Hotel Kuching. Located in the city centre, this three star hotel is near the river but about two kilometres from the main central area. So the location is ok, but could be better.

Abell Hotel Kuching Sarawak Review

Address: 22, Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, Kuching City Center, Kuching

This 3 star hotel in Kuching Sarawak is nestled just outside the main Kuching riverfront area just a little past the Grand Margherita Hotel. So it’s walking distance to some of the attractions in central Kuching but a little too far to walk comfortably to others. However, it is close to shopping and dining options.

There is a range of room types from single rooms to twin, king and family. Family rooms have single bed and queen bed. All rooms have WiFi, flatscreen TV, minifridge, tea and coffee making facilities, a safe, air-conditioning, a desk area and a private bathroom.

The cheaper rooms only have small windows without a view so they can be a little dark. They are also on the small side. More money will get you a bigger room with more light and possibly a view.

There is good on-site dining with local and international options. Otherwise, there is a lack of facilities beyond the usual 24 hour front desk and luggage storage. There is parking, but it is quite limited.

Best Parts?

A solid 3 star hotel in Kuching town area. The price makes it a budget hotel Kuching town.

Worst Parts?

Some of the rooms are a bit small with limited light. Some rooms need renovating and there are some maintainence issues.

Summary

If you’re searching for Kuching where to stay that’s central and a cheaper option, the Abell Hotel Kuching Sarawak is an ok option.

Raia Hotel & Convention Centre Kuching Review – Best Kuching Airport Hotel

Raia Hotel & Convention Centre Kuching pool
There’s a lovely pool area

Address: Jalan Lapangan Terbang, 93250 Kuching

If you’re looking for a Kuching hotel near airport, Raia Hotel Kuching is directly opposite the airport and the best choice for a stay here. It couldn’t be more convenient for a late night arrival or early morning departure. The only downside is that there isn’t a footpath to walk here, so while it’s super close, you may prefer to take a taxi or the hotel shuttle (paid extra).

However, this does mean it’s not centrally located to Kuching’s main riverfront area, although you are closer to the orangutans at Semenggoh Wildlife Centre if you have time for a quick tour!

All rooms at this hotel are modern, well furnished and clean. They have everything you would expect from a 4 star hotel with tea and coffee making facilities, air-conditioning, desk, flatscreen TV, minifridge and private bathroom. I found my room very comfortable and quiet. This was a very easy place to stay.

There are also suite room options with a separate living area.

Other facilities of this airport hotel in Kuching include a restaurant and lounge, free private parking, outdoor swimming pool and a playground. The outdoor area with pool and playground is very nice. The room service is also great, and I had a fabulous mee goreng.

There is wifi and a convention centre with business facilities.

Raia Hotel & Convention Centre Kuching SUperior room
My superior twin room

Best Parts?

The Raia is a great modern, new hotel in Kuching Sarawak super close to the airport. The pool is a great way to wash off your flights. It’s also a hotel near Kuching Sentral and has tasty food.

Worst Parts?

It’s not as convenient to city attractions as other hotels in this list.

Summary

The rooms and facilities here are clean, comfortable and modern. Overall, if you’re looking for a hotel near Kuching Airport or the bus station at Kuching Sentral, this is by far the best option.
