The state capital of Sarawak on the island of Borneo, Kuching is one of my favourite places in Malaysia. Located on the Sarawak River, this city has a beautiful riverfront area which deserves a stroll at least every evening you are in town.
There is more to Kuching than its river, however. Kuching means cat in Malay and you’ll want to keep your eyes open for cat statues throughout your time in this city. It’s lots of fun. There’s also a fun cat museum essential for everyone who loves cats or who likes a laugh.
There’s many museums and other attractions although some people would say the best attractions are outside the city. There are numeous day trips you can do from Kuching like visiting orangutans, learning local customs and spending time in national parks. You won’t be bored.
Below, you will find our best guides to Kuching so you can have the best time possible in this interesting destination.
