Berjaya Resort Langkawi Review
I stayed at the 5-star Berjaya Langkawi Beach Resort Malaysia with two of my kids aged 7 and 13 at the time. We came here straight from Telaga Harbour after a great side trip to Koh Lipe. It was easy to get a Grab taxi here for only RM7.
I pre-checked in before arrival using a form that was emailed to me via Agoda. It promised a free gift and I got an email after about 15% off food and beverage. Although it said this could only be used if I prebooked and talked to someone before arriving at the resort! This all felt too hard, especially as it said they would contact me which they didnāt. It felt a little scammy and pointless to be honest.
Real life check-in was much better. We were a little early but got our room key. We first headed to the lobby bar for a welcome drink (which just seemed like water with blue food colouring added!). We then headed to one of the many shuttles that roam the resort for the drive to our chalet.
Berjaya Langkawi Resort Location
Berjaya Langkawi Resort Address:
On the above Berjaya Langkawi Resort map, you can see where this resort is located. Itās on the coast in the eastern part of the island near Telaga Harbour. Itās a pretty spot by the water with its own beach and surrounded by jungle.
Itās close to the SkyBridge which is a popular attraction, but otherwise, you have a bit of a drive to attractions. To go from Berjaya Langkawi Resort to Pantai Cenang, the main beach area, is about a 25-minute drive. From Berjaya Langkawi Resort to Langkawi airport is about 20 minutes.
This is common for resorts in Langkawi, and it is more centrally located than most 5 star resorts on this island.
Berjaya Resort In Langkawi Hotel Rooms
There are many room types at the Berjaya Beach Resort Langkawi. They range from the Berjaya Langkawi Resort rainforest chalet which is their cheapest room type for two people to a two bedroom suite on the water which is perfect for families. There are other room types in the middle too.
If you have seen any Berjaya Langkawi Resort photos, you have probably loved the photos of the over-water villas. There are plenty of these for the ultimate Langkawi resort experience.
All rooms have air-conditioning, comfortable beds, balconies, tea and coffee making facilities and spacious bathrooms. A feature I particularly love is that they all have a complimentary minibar with some drinks (including beer) and snacks.
You can pay more for more space, so extra bedrooms or living areas and more outdoor space. It also costs more to have a chalet with a sea view, compared to being surrounded by greenery or to have a Berjaya Langkawi Resort premier suite on water. Some of the suites over the water have amazing jacuzzis as well.
Since I was staying with my two kids and I looove an ocean view, I opted for a Premier Seaview Chalet. This gave us a bit of extra space compared to the Berjaya Langkawi rainforest chalet and a seaview. Next time, I definitely want to stay in a Berjaya Langkawi premier suite on water though!
This resort is large and spread out. It makes the chalets feel quite private (although note that some are in blocks of four, some blocks of two and some separated). It does mean that it can take awhile to walk places which is where the shuttles come in handy.
Premier Seaview Chalet
Our entry to this room started with a buggy ride from reception. It was walkable distance, but in the heat and with luggage, itās far nicer to have a shuttle ride.
We had to walk up and down some steps, but we were soon at our chalet. We were excited to walk inside as it looked promising from the outside.
The promise was met! This chalet is a great size.
On entry to the room, there is a wide hallway section with cupboards on the right and our bathroom on the right. The cupboards had plenty of space, ironing equipment, a hair dryer, three gowns and a mini-safe.
The bathroom was big and spacious with a big bath, a separate shower, a separate toilet area and a huge basin area. There are many toiletries and bottled water and glasses.
Walking through to the main bedroom area, there was an area for our suitcases, a huge shelf with drawers and a desk with a flatscreen TV on the wall. This was also home to the minibar which was stocked for free! I love an included minibar!
We had some soft drink, beer, pringles, peanuts, a fruit bowl, plenty of bottled water and tea and coffee making facilities. Itās a great touch! Although some was missing when we checked in. We were told this would be fixed but it took another phone call for this to happen.
On the opposite wall was a king sized bed with bedside tables on each side.
At the end of the room by the big windows out to our balcony was a sofa/day bed/converted bed that had already been made up for my son.
I loved how this room had everything for three without me even asking.
The big sliding door led to our amazing balcony which was my favourite part of this room. Outside were two chairs with a table as well as two lounge chairs. Of course, the views out to the ocean really topped this off.
The room was very quiet (not a sound unless we were on the balcony where we could hear the ocean), super comfortable and clean. It was older style, so the one thing that annoyed me was lack of accessible power points. There was a good, international one by the desk but nothing else really including in the bathroom or by the bed. But I do like how grand an older style room can feel.
I found the bed a little hard and the linen could have been better. It did not feel like a 5 star bed experience ā but this is being super, super picky.

The Beach
This resort has a private beach in front of the pool/reception/main resort area. Itās beautiful!
Thereās powder white sand, clear water and a huge roped off space for swimming.
There are also watersports available here which are kept to the side and out of the way which I appreciated.
There are plenty of lounge chairs and a bar with food (more about this below) as well. Itās a great area.
The best views of the resort and surrounds are from the water. You can really see how beautiful this area is with rolling, tree-covered hills. You can also see up to the Langkawi SkyCab (cable car) and SkyBridge. Itās awesome.
Facilities
One of the biggest reasons I loved this place when researching this Berjaya Langkawi Resort review is because of their facilities. They have a great range. I also loved them when we were staying here.
Most facilities, restaurants and bars are at the entry to the resort from the reception down to the beach. This is the central area of the resort.
It is nice having everything together as it keeps the huge area with the chalets quiet and private. However, it also means it can be quite a walk or shuttle ride from your room to everything you need.
We started at the big pool. Itās great! Itās a good size, lagoon style, with a pool bar and a waterfall area. My 7 year old loved the waterfall and being able to go behind it. It has a great, relaxed fun vibe.
There are also two smaller pools for kids above it. I had thought one was a big spa pool, but it wasnāt heated and the jets werenāt strong enough to be a spa.
There is a gym, tennis court, beach volleyball, bicycles and a childrenās playground. There are also watersports and plenty of trails to explore through nature by the resort.
Thereās a gift shop and a shuttle service within the resort like I mentioned above. You just need to dial a number to get one to your chalet and they are readily available at the reception area too.
There is also a Berjaya Langkawi Resort spa if you need a massage and the usual array of hotel services like tour desk, parking, babysitting service and laundry service. Thereās also a kids club with an activity program. They seemed to have the one pictured below plus a special afternoon activities program for a charge.
Another great service is that there is a free shuttle to the Langkawi SkyCab (cable car) every two hours. We booked a taxi to the airport with the hotel which was RM35. My Grab app said RM16, but I was worried no one would come.
The shuttle service in general is brilliant. They seemed to learn who we were immediately, where we were going and sorted out everything for our transfer to the airport, including our luggage making its way magically into the taxi, without us saying anything. A+ to these guys!
Internet is available but itās quite annoying. You have to keep connecting to it as you move around the resort, re-entering the login details including every time you get back to your room.
It also didnāt work in areas of our room and didnāt work at all for most of our stay on my laptop. If you need to work when you travel, like me, make sure you have good mobile data and coverage.
Berjaya Langkawi Resort Restaurants
Since you are a little isolated here, thankfully there are some good eating options. Like all 5-star resorts, they are relatively expensive, and sadly more focused on western options than local. I did not find the food I ate here that great, just ok. I do loooove local Malaysian food though.
There are four restaurants, one lounge and 3 bars ā so plenty of places to try and I did not try all of them so hopefully, you have some better food experiences.
Dayang Cafe is the all-day dining venue and the place to go for your included breakfast. It serves local and international food. The breakfast was great and an exception to what I said above. They had many different stations where you could get some great food. We especially loved the roti station. Is anything better than fresh roti?
They catered to many different cuisines, and itās a great inclusion.
For dinner, you can also eat at the Chinese Oriental Pearl restaurant or the Pahn-Thai Restaurant which is in a beautiful location over the water.
For a more relaxed vibe, there is the Beach Brasserie. Itās right by the beach and serves food at all meal times. It has great views over the water.
They also serve an afternoon tea here which is included. Iām not completely sure itās included for everyone, but I assume so. Itās simple but an awesome inclusion!
There are snacks and drinks available at the Poolside bar ā which is in the pool ā and the Boat House Bar ā right on the sand. These were our favourites as the locations canāt be beat!
Finally, there is a Lobby Lounge and Rimba Sports Bar. Both serve snacks and drinks.
Service was always good, but slow. The staff definitely take on a relaxed vibe here.
I scoured Google maps, but I couldnāt see anywhere to eat outside the resort nearby.
Final Words
We loved staying at the Berjaya Langkawi. Our chalet was great, the facilities great and the beach fantastic too.
My only small complaints are the slow-ness and taste of the food we ate (except at breakfast) and the internet.
The chalets are nice and private and the resort had a good vibe.
We stayed at Arch Studio Cenang and Tanjung Rhu Resort on the same trip and I canāt help but compare. In case you are struggling to pick between Tanjung Rhu Resort and Berjaya Langkawi too (and canāt stay at both like us!), I pick Tanjung Rhu Resort. It had a more luxurious vibe. The staff were friendlier and better and the resort is prettier.
Berjaya wins for having a little more energy and for more private accommodation though. Itās also closer to attractions which may help it win for you. I also did not like that at Tanjung Rhu, we were on the fourth floor with no elevators!
We paid a little more for Berjaya than Tanjung Rhu, but they were similarly priced. Basically, Tanjung Rhu Resort felt 5 star to me in every way (except the stairs!). Berjaya Langkawi felt 4.5 star to me, primarily because the staff werenāt as good and didnāt add a luxury feeling. Either did the beds.
That is being super picky but hopefully it will help you š
Arch Studio is nowhere near as good as either of them (and was a similar price for us), but it is very well located so the better choice if you donāt need a resort and want to be close to the action.
Regardless, Iām sure youāll love a stay at Berjaya Resort Langkawi.
